Katy Christmas lights' best choice for holiday lighting is LED. They are more than just an energy-saving option for your holiday displays, but offer the best and brightest display! Today, we are going to share with our Katy Christmas light enthusiasts the real benefits of LED holiday lighting.  Most homeowners know that LED saves a lot of electricity, but there are many more benefits to making the switch. According to a nationwide survey of over 2,000 consumers, 57% of people now prefer LEDs over incandescent. Here's why:

Cool to the Touch

The main difference between incandescent and LED Christmas lights is that LED lights produce no heat, which makes them safer. With incandescent bulbs, these bulbs run hot and have been known to cause fires when in contact with flammable materials. What was even more dangerous was that these bulbs were encased inside a glass fixture, making them a greater hazard. When the bulb overheated, it would melt the socket, starting a fire.

Connect More Katy Christmas Lights

LEDs can connect 8 to 10 times more cords together while only using one plug outlet. This makes Christmas decorating far easier. Plus, with LED, Katy Christmas light enthusiasts have a rainbow of colors to choose from. Want to show off your Astros pride? Done. Want to celebrate your baby's first holiday season> Consider pink or blue. Or what about color-changing bulbs? LED makes all these choices possible.

Longer Lasting

Another drawback with incandescent bulbs is that they would last only one or two seasons before they needed to be tossed away, whereas LED lights, the type of Christmas lights we install at Katy, last for thousands of hours.

Electricity

The average-sized home will spend roughly $0.17 per day to run its Katy Christmas lights for 4 hours a night. Whereas incandescent costs $1.32 per hour for the same amount of time. This means if you have your Christmas lights installed for 45 days, you will spend $415.80 compared to $7.65 with LED. That alone would make the switch worthwhile.

Okay, now that we have decided to donate those old incandescent bulbs to the Houston Zoo Save the Wildlife Fund https://www.houstonzoo.org/blog/recycle-your-holiday-lights-to-save-wildlife/

Let’s consider all the possible types of options you have to choose from.

Rooftop: C9 or C7 Bulbs. The C7 bulbs are about 1.5 inches tall and have E12 bases, whereas C9 bulbs are roughly 2.25 inches tall with an E17 base—, the larger the bulb, the brighter your display.

Bushes & Tree: Mini lights or 5MM. If you're unsure what the difference is, 5MM are much smaller with a flat top and disperse light consistently, so they also work great for indoor Christmas decorating.

Walkways & Driveways: You can take either size of LED light or attach it to a stake that is secured into the ground.  For the best results, space the stakes about a foot apart, and if the ground is hard, then take some hot water and pour it around the ground to soften up the soil.

Christmas Trees: Pre-lot LED or string lights. Get a string of lights that has 100 to 300 small lights with a 60-foot-long cord. If you like a bright, full Christmas tree or have a nine-foot-plus tree, you’ll want to look for a strand that can accommodate connections.
